France is the subject of our first note. The election of Emmanuel Macron to President of France in 2017 ushered in expectations of reforms that would unlock potential for expansion and development of the French economy.

Today, two years into the President’s first five-year term, the programme of reforms initiated by the new administration has come through an initial and comprehensive stress test and its implementation continues.

This note reviews France’s situation at this juncture. It has for object to serve as the basis for discussion with our clients on the challenges, opportunities and risks facing France over the secular investment horizon.
