Recent official commentary and a weaker economic outlook have once again led to heightened expectations for policy easing by the ECB, possibly as early as the March meeting. Meanwhile in the US, investors are keenly focused on whether tighter financial conditions, declining inflation expectations and a possible loss of momentum in the service sector will lead the FOMC to signal an extended pause in the tightening cycle.
